My Favorite Product Of the Week 6/27/16

Hey Guys! I thought I would start a section in my blog just talking about my favorite beauty product of the week is! As a professional makeup artist I am constantly trying new products for my clients and my kit.

I think it's safe to say I am an expert in this. Now to come up with the product that I would feature first...I had to think about:

1. What has been saving my life?

2. What have I been using on my clients AND myself daily?

3. What product would I be so sad to see be empty.

and then it hit me.

I am 4 scoops away from empty on this product and I am devastated. This product gives me skin the hydration and TLC it needs in this dry heat.

Now I will be honest, I kind of suck in the whole "skin care routine" ---I know--- Especially since I have such dry skin it's hard for me to even want to put makeup on when it's just going to look all flakey and gross.

Until now!

My favorite product of the week goes out to Sonia Roselli's Water Balm. It's literally like a drink of water for your skin.

Straight from Sonia's website: "
Sonia Roselli Water Balm is an innovative Japanese multi use skin prep product that is perfect before any makeup application.

Use as a:

  • Toner
  • Serum
  • Day Cream
  • Night Cream
  • Eye Cream
  • Makeup Primer

Keep your skin supple for hours, giving makeup a longer wear and the skin a youthful glow!

The drink of water your skin has been looking for!"

It's exactly that. If you are like me and get patchy noses and gross looking makeup applications...you need this.

Don't even get me started on what it does to my clients skin! Even if they have oily skin this goes on every single of one of my clients because it just makes foundation apply so beautifully. If you want to purchase it you can directly on her website OR it is available on Amazon PRIME! Who doesn't love free shipping?

So that's that! This is my saving grace for the week!

See yah next week to see what I feature next!

In Front of the Lens

Recently I asked Brittanee Taylor Photography if she could do my headshots. I knew I needed a new set and I love the way Britt's photos always turn out. However. It's been a while since I've stepped in front of the camera. Selfies are one thing-- I can control those-- being a 'model' is another. Which made me think "no wonder my clients are always so nervous"

Luckly Brittanee was very encouraging throughout the whole shoot and helped posed me a bit. I think I got the hang out of it after a while (especially since my favorites were towards the end!) plus I got to showcase my selfie smirk ;)

Here are some of my favorites:

Ah, the irony. I think it's good to step out of your comfort zone for a bit. Plus who doesn't love a little attention? ;)

Speakeasy Vintage Peacock Inspired Shoot | Southern California Makeup Artist

In the midst of Redlands, California, is a beautiful new venue called the Speakeasy on State. This stylized shoot was so much fun to do. Every different room at the Speakeasy created new inspiration and vibes. The peacock colored palette made this bride and groom POP. Although it started to rain, that didn't stop us from having an amazing shoot. Check it out:

Here is a little behind the scenes action captured by Leah Vis Photography.

For this bride, I created a soft romantic bun that paired beautifully with a rhinestone headpiece. For her eyes, I really wanted to play off the blues and purples in the color palette so I opted for some deep browns and maroons to really make her eyes stand out. Topped it all off with a mauve/purple lip to stay with the theme.

Check out these amazing vendors that made this all possible:

Boho Lace Bride | Southern California Makeup Artist

boho bride

This stylized shoot was breathtaking. I got to work with some amazing vendors to really create a fabulous look. I really wanted to create a romantic boho vibe--first I evened out her complexion and added that glow and natural flush to her cheeks. This really made her eyes pop and made the flower crown standout. Her eyes are smoked out with brown mattes from Viseart and added a pop of shimmer onthe lid. She had amazing eyelashes that just needed a few coats of mascara--that's all she needed!! Then I added a peachy pink lip gloss to really pull the look together. Her hair was loosely curled and I just pinned random sections to create a full messy up do. I pulled random sections of hair down to get that effortlessly messy look. Add that crown and now we have perfection. Take a look at some other photos down below and fall in love!
